My name is Ignacio López González and I am 18 years old; I was born in Quito, Ecuador in August 15 of 2000 and I study at Colegio Americano de Quito. I have a twin named Sebastian and my younger sister named Emilia. I have a very good relationship with my siblings, I have done everything in my life with them since we were little kids. The three of us love nature and like to spend a lot of time on the outside, but we like the most especially when we travel around Ecuador visiting their most delightful places like Mindo, the amazon, it's long sandy beaches, the Galapagos Islands and the mountains and volcanoes of the sierra like cotopaxi or cayambe and many more beautiful places. In those places I have done a lot of great adventures with my siblings making those adventures into my most my most treasured memories. I see myself as a very helpful person, I like to help that is why I like so much this project because I get to help an indigenous tribe called the Secoyas and you don't find that type of opportunities everywhere in the world, that is why is a very unique and important project to me. I also see myself as a very adventurous person since the fact that I've been always traveling all around the world, visiting different places, cultures, people, customs and different religions. Nevertheless Ecuador is the country that has surprised me the most with all its biodiversity, flora and fauna on every corner. Ecuador one of 17 megadiverse countries in the world and has the most biodiversity per square kilometre of any nation. Ecuador is divided into four main and unique geographic regions: the coast, the Sierra or “the highlands”, La Amazonía also known as El Oriente and La Región Insular, the region comprising the Galápagos Islands which is one of the seven wonder of the worlds; the Galápagos Islands with all its unique and alluring animals and islands make them the only of its type all around the world.
When I first heard of this project I immediately thought of what I needed to do to join this project, I talked with Juliana Pallares the founder of this project and asked her what I needed to do to join this project, because to me this was an amazing and unique opportunity for me to get to help this indigenous people and demonstrate my adventurous and helpful part of myself. I have travelled now two times to the Secoya communities, the first trip I did we went to Mañoco and build a house made out of bamboo for the teacher of the children, so he can be closer to the school. The second trip I did we went to build a school made out of bamboo for the childrens in another place where the Secoya community were.
Those trips to the Secoya communities were the best trips I have had in my entire life since is a unique place, you learn so much when you go there, you learn about they culture, you meet new people, you learn about their way of living which to me is amazing and a magnificent experience which has taught me a lot. You don't only go there and help them but they also teach you new things and with all that new experience you get to know yourself a little more. I really want to continue doing this astounding project and also help people to get to know about this project so they also can be part of this incomparable and astonishing opportunity.
After these two trips now I form part of the Second Generation of the project of Beyond Lagartococha which I feel really privileged to form part of this group because not everyone gets to get this opportunity, and I would do everything it takes to help contribute this project in a positive way. We are raising funds now to keep this project going, with that funds gain we pay the teacher, buy materials for the school like notebooks and pencils, and also we buy the materials needed for building the structures. We also accept any kind of donations.
