About Me:
My name is Sara Chediak, and I am 15 years old. I was born in Quito, Ecuador in 2006 and have lived here ever since. I believe one of my biggest reasons to be grateful is to live here, in this extravagant country. Ecuador is one of the most diverse and unique countries of the world. You can either have a beautiful day on the beach, a long walk through the monstrous mountains, a rebirthing experience in the amazonas, or a free tour through the Galapagos islands. Living here has built me up to who I am now. My family has always been a fan of nature; it's great wonders and its healing power when connected to it. We always used to travel through the country, we picked a destiny and while driving there stopped at any place we could to admire. My mom is very spiritual, and has taught me all the connections we can have to nature and how it can impact us and our lives.
My family consists of both of my parents, my older brother and my younger sister. Since my little sister was born I noticed my love for babies, I loved playing, talking, and taking care of her. I was always told that it was like nature for me, my parents knew I took such an incredible care and cared so much about her that they felt comfortable leaving her alone with me when I was just 4 years old. Since then I have gone to my moms daycare and worked there in the summers taking care of the kids. Not only my love for kids but my love for helping others grew. I began to love doing community service and giving others opportunities and happiness like they deserve.
If you know me, you know my passion for community service. Right before the pandemic I had a little community service project with a friend of mine. We went all week to a little low resource school in Cumbaya and helped them by doing activities and spending some fun time with her. My mom studied education and psychopedagogy so she helped us out to find ways that we could use fun activities and also help these kids learn. Not only that, but I have also been in a group at my school called NHS which focuses on doing community service and another group called Operacion Sonrisa which helps raise funds for kids with harelip. So yes, you could say helping others is one of my biggest passions. Not only because I am impacting other people's lives, but because I also receive so many things in return. I learn to be grateful, enjoy the little things, smile through life no matter how hard things get.
