about me
My name is Matías Guevara Ruales and I was born in Quito, Ecuador, in 2003. My family has been loving and supportive with me my entire life. They have provided an amazing space for me to grow and learn to be myself. I owe so much to them, because I know that without them I would not be the person I am today, and I wouldn’t have developed my character as freely and comfortably as I have. I consider myself a person with values and well-set priorities. There are several aspects of my life in which I place enormous value. The first and foremost of these is Religion; I also immensely care about my family, my friends, my responsibilities and the spaces that I have to just do what I like. I always put my best effort into what I start, and I really become invested in every goal that I set for myself. I like music, bike-riding, traveling, dancing, taking pictures, and many other things that I dedicate my free time to. Friendship is incredibly important to me, and I try my best to be a good friend to those who I care about. This is a big part of the reason why I take comfort in making others feel good around me, by simply treating them well and offering my help with anything they need.

WHY I JOINED BEYOND LAGARTOCOCHA
From a very young age, I have been encouraged to try new things and embark on new experiences. This passion for exploration has truly shaped my life. I love to travel, and I try to get the most out of every new place I visit and every new experience I live. Throughout my life, my family has taken me in beautiful trips, and I have also traveled alone several times. Though trips are amazing, they aren’t the only thing that helps me grow. Meeting new people, helping those in need, and working for a greater objective are all opportunities for me to become a grater human being. This is why I am constantly looking for initiatives that will allow me to grow while contributing to a good cause. For example, I have participated in summer camps with CISV, an organization that promotes peace education throughout 69 countries worldwide, and I am part of school clubs such as Student Government. When I heard about Beyond Lagartococha, I instantly loved the idea of being a part of such an amazing project. Working to educate children in need within my own country was truly inspiring to me. Education opens so many opportunities to people, and everyone deserves it, which is why I am grateful that I can work to bring such a valuable thing to kids who would otherwise not be able to access it. I genuinely hope that my contribution to this foundation will help these children, and I know that being a part of this will give me wonderful opportunities to grow as a person.
