My name is Martina Jaramillo, I was born in Quito the capital of Ecuador on September 22 of 2001. I have lived in Quito my entire life. Living in Ecuador has helped me shaped my personality and my appreciation of nature, since I was very little I have enjoyed playing in the different ecosystems that Ecuador has like the beach, the jungle and the mountains. I am the youngest of two older sisters, the one in the middle is 6 years older than me and the other one is 10 years older than me. Both of them have been a really important part of my life, they have been role models and I admire a lot.
I have a tendency to help people and enjoy it a lot doing it since I was very little I used to pretend to be a phycologist to hear my friends problems and try to help them. Many of my uncles have properties in a beach called Canoa and my whole childhood I have gone there to spend vacations is a beautiful beach that has a small town. On April 16 of 2016 an unfortunate earthquake left the small town devastated, thankfully I had the opportunity to help this town and also smaller towns that surround Canoa. Throughout my life Ive had the opportunity to help in different projects of community service.
My experience going to Lagartococha was a life changing opportunity that helped me connect with a community very different than what we live on our daily life. More than anything I believe that meeting the Secoyas is a chance to learn, I am sure I learned more from them than they did from me. Lagartococha has beautiful landscapes that seem unreal and make you feel peacefully.
